Not only that, but the 2011 Super Duty is fuel conscious as well. It does its job more efficiently, allowing you to use far less fuel and its reliable enough to have a less frequent maintenance schedule, which translates to lower operational costs overall.
"The 2011 Super Duty is not only the most powerful, most capable and fuel-efficient heavy-duty pickup truck on the road, it performs the tough jobs with even more efficiency than ever before," said Ford’s truck group marketing manager, Doug Scott. "Customers can be confident that Super Duty's class-leading capability comes with best-in-class fuel economy."
The newly-designed diesel and gas engine powertrains make the Super Duty’s towing and payload capacity possible. It is able to tow 26,400 pounds on the F550 chassis cab [with fifth-wheel hitch] and carry a payload of 6,520 pounds on the F-350 dual rear-wheel pickup. The 6.7 liter Power Stroke V8 turbocharged diesel engine produces a remarkable 735 of torque and 390 HP at 2,800 RPM. It also allows you to use B20 biodiesel fuel as well.
Additionally, the newly designed E85-compatible 6.2L V8 engine can produce 405 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 RPM and 385 HP at 5,500 RPM. Paired with these engines is the brand new 6R140 heavy –duty TorqShift 6-speed automatic transmission - an efficient transmission largely responsible for the greatly improved fuel economy.
"The new transmission is a 'clean-sheet' design, developed specifically to handle the significantly increased torque produced by the new diesel engine and the higher rotational speeds produced by the new gas engine, and to deliver the power to the wheels seamlessly and efficiently for heavy-duty truck customers," said Ford’s transmission engineering manager, Al Bruck. "Each system and component was scrutinized to deliver optimum performance."
With the 2011 Ford Super Duty, Ford has produced the most fuel-efficient vehicle of its class. Strong, clean and confident enough to conquer any job you throw at it, the 2011 Ford Super Duty is a class leader with unmatched versatility and optimum performance.
