New Styling
One look and you know the 2008 Escape is built for people on
the move. The new exterior design speaks to Escape's active
capabilities. Highlights include a tough and striking new chrome
grille, hood, headlights and available integrated sidesteps. New
wheel options include available 17" chrome-clad wheels on
Escape XLT and Limited with V6.
Moonroof
The optional power moonroof is available by itself, or as part
of the Sun & Satellite National Value Package which includes
the moonroof and SIRIUS® satellite radio with a national
discount. Not available in Alaska or Hawaii. See your dealer for

Eco-friendly Fabric
Escape XLT's innovative earth-friendly seat fabric made
from 100% post-industrial waste - plastics and polyester fibers
that would have ended up in landfills otherwise. More than simply
"green," the durable, comfortable and stylish nature of
the material also makes it a perfect fit for Escape.
Technology
Intelligent 4WD
On- or off-road, Escape's available advanced 4WD system is
always and on and always working to help provide maximum
traction. What makes the system so smart is its ability to
monitor traction 200 times per second. It then uses that input to
automatically adjust torque distribution where as needed to give
you maximum grip.
Duratec 30 3.0L V6
The available Duratec 30-3.0L V6 engine brings Escape's
sporty performance capabilities into full bloom. Packing 200
horsepower, this powerplant gives Escape a towing capacity of
3,500 lbs. when properly equipped.
Navigation System
The optional Navigation System combines DVD mapping with
Global Positioning System (GPS) technology, and features a
6.5" color LCD screen with high-quality graphics, voice
guidance and touch-screen simplicity.
Audio Input Jack
All Escape sound systems are equipped with a standard
auxiliary audio input jack compatible with your MP3 player.
Flexibility
Flexible Cargo Space
Flexibility is everywhere in the 2008 Escape, including room
for five passengers and 29.2 cu. ft. of cargo space behind its
standard 60/40 split-folding rear seats. You can access that rear
storage space by simply flipping up the liftglass, or you can
raise the liftgate. Use the tip-fold-flat latches to fold both
rear seats down and load up an impressive 66.3 cu. ft. of
cargo
3,500 lbs. Towing Capacity
When equipped with the Duratec 30-3.0L V6 engine, and
outfitted with the optional Class II Trailer Tow Prep Package,
Escape XLT and Limited models can tow an impressive 3,500 lbs of
cargo. That's a whole lot of gear for the lake, the campsite
or the home-improvement project.
Roof Rack
Escape is built for full-on function from the top down,
literally. When you need more space, Escape can carry up to 100
lbs. of cargo on top with its roof rack. The roof rack is
standard on XLT and Limited, and available on XLS models with the
optional Cargo Package. If you want roof-rail crossbars,
they're available for all models with the Cargo Package.
Wet Trunk
"Active" and "adventure" can often
translate to "wet" and "dirty." No worries.
Escape features an available "wet trunk" underneath the
rear cargo area. Available with the optional Cargo Package, the
wet trunk is a handy place for post-adventure gear.
Safety
Personal Safety System
Escape's innovative Personal Safety System uses a network
of sensors to enhance protection for the driver and front
passenger by customizing the deployment of Escape's standard
dual-stage driver and front-passenger airbags based on several
criteria, including the driver's seat position, whether the
safety belts are in use, and the overall severity of the impact.
For additional protection, Escape comes standard with newly
updated front-seat side mounted airbags.
Roll Stability Control
Escape faces changing road and surface conditions with
confidence thanks to its standard AdvanceTrac® with RSC®
(Roll Stability Control). This advanced system helps keep all
four wheels planted firmly in less-than-ideal driving situations,
such as slippery roads, or uneven surfaces and short, tight
turns.
*Remember that even advanced technology cannot overcome the
laws of physics. It's always possible to lose control of a
vehicle due to inappropriate driver input for the conditions.
Anti-Lock Brakes
Escape offers many active safety features designed to help you
avoid an accident, such as the standard, power anti-lock brake
system, which can help you maintain steering control during
severe braking.
Heated Side Mirrors
Clear rear vision is made very simple with heated side
mirrors, available with the Escape Limited Luxury Package. Also
included are heated seats, electronic dual-zone electronic
automatic temperature control, steering wheel-mounted audio
controls, and reverse sensing system.
