Versatility
Seating/Cargo Versatility
For all its bold Ford styling, the real beauty of the new 2008
Taurus X crossover is its outstanding versatility. Sometimes you
need to carry a lot of passengers. At other times cargo takes
priority. Taurus X's three rows of space and flexibility
allow you to configure the seating/cargo arrangement that best
meets the needs of the moment.**Class is 7-passenger
crossover.
Seating for 6 or 7
All Taurus models come with standard seating for six
adult-size passengers - two in each of the three rows. If you
want your Taurus X with maximum 7-passenger seating, order the
available 3-passenger 60/40 split 2nd-row seat. This seat is
especially versatile because you can carry extra cargo and
accommodate either one or two passengers depending on which seat
back is lowered.
Best-in-class Cargo Space
You've planned a trip, for just the two of you. And
you've got lots of stuff to take along. Fold down the 2nd-
and 3rd-row seats flat and your Taurus X accommodates your plans
beautifully with a generous 85.2 cu. ft. of cargo space behind
the 1st-row seats - that's more than any other full-size
crossover provides.
Fold-Flat Passenger Seat Back
If you really want to carry a lot of things, fold down the
2nd- and 3rd-row seats - plus the front passenger seat back.
Those extra long items up to 10 ft. you couldn't transport
before - not a problem now in the full-size Taurus X full-size
crossover.
Safety
Rated Safest 7-Passenger Crossover
What constitutes class-leading safety?* It's earning full
5-star crash test ratings from the National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration (NHTSA).† It's also achieving
the designation of "Top Safety Pick" from the Insurance
Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Take a close look at how
well Taurus X is designed, built, and equipped for safety. It may
very well be the only full-size crossover you'll consider for
your family.*Class is 7-passenger crossover.† Star ratings

Program (www.safercar.gov).
NHTSA 5-star Safety
With its strong body design and impressive list of passive
safety features, the Taurus X has earned the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) highest 5-star rating
for not only the front crash test (driver and passenger) but also
the side crash test (front and rear outboard passengers).
That's complete 5-star protection.Star ratings are part of
the U.S. Dept. of Transportation's Safercar.gov Program
(www.safercar.gov).
IIHS "Top Safety Pick"
Being named the "Top Safety Pick" by the Insurance
Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) isn't like getting your
name picked out of a hat. It's a distinction that must be
earned. Taurus X achieved the highest ratings in all three IIHS
categories: a 40-mph frontal offset crash test that assesses
structural design; a side-impact crash test that simulates
getting struck by an SUV or pickup truck; and a rear
crash-protection test that focuses on whiplash prevention. IIHS
criteria for "Top Safety Pick" are quite demanding. And
Taurus X, equipped with numerous safety features including
standard electronic stability control system, is more than up to
the challenge.

All-Wheel Drive Defense
Taurus X comes with standard Front-Wheel Drive (FWD). Or go
with the available All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system that
automatically distributes up to 100% of torque to the wheels with
the most traction when conditions such as mud, gravel, snow and
ice require it. Both FWD and AWD are equipped with Traction
Control that limits wheel spin to improve your grip on the
road.
AdvanceTrac® Stability Control System
Ford's AdvanceTrac® Stability Control System is
standard. This state-of-the-art system constantly monitors road
conditions and the driver's responses, then reduces engine
torque and applies the ABS brakes in precise measure to help keep
all four wheels firmly planted. For family travel, this is
advanced technology you can always rely on.
