All-new 6.4L PowerStroke Turbo Diesel
With its 6.4L displacement and dual-stage turbochargers, this
available new Power Stroke® diesel cranks out a maximum 350
horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. For applications like snow
plowing that need the low-end muscle, it can produce its peak
torque at only 2,000 rpm. And thanks to the precision of the
Piezo-actuated fuel injectors, the engine will start in under 2
seconds at -20F.
Dual Turbos = more power, more quickly
The 6.4L diesel benefits from dual-stage turbochargers - One
to get things moving, another to keep things moving at higher
speeds. Previous generation diesels use a single large turbo with
a big, heavy impeller, which requires a lengthy spool up time.
The smaller impellers are lighter and able to spool faster, which
equals more power more quickly and thus better performance.
Ford Clean Diesel Technology™
The Super Duty® uses Ford Clean Diesel Technology™
including a Diesel Particulate Filter to trap soot particles.
It's also optimized to use the latest ultra-low sulfur fuel.
It burns cleaner, with less odor, and helps the emissions system
last longer. With particulate emissions equivalent to those of a
gasoline engine with similar size and power, the 6.4L diesel is
Ford's cleanest, quietest truck diesel ever.
Advance Fuel Injection
The 6.4L Power Stroke® uses state of the art Piezo
actuated fuel injector technology, which delivers multiple
precision fuel injection bursts for a smoother, cleaner burn,
reduced engine clatter, more powerful acceleration and reduced
emissions.
TorqShift™: A smart, durable transmission
The proven TorqShift™ transmission was designed for the
high-torque of a turbo diesel and includes a selectable Tow/Haul
Mode that compensates for altitude, grade and load. It also has
all-new gear sets and a 3-plate, 2-stage torque converter to
reduce noise when the converter is locked. These enhancements to
the TorqShift™ and the increased torque from the 6.4L
diesel deliver the power for your toughest jobs.
Durability
Longer rear leaf springs
We built the rear suspension of the new F-Series Super Duty
with 8-inch longer rear leaf springs. This increased length
provides more wind-up stiffness to manage the torque of the new,
more powerful 6.4L diesel without compromising ride comfort.
Frame Strenght
Super Duty's frame is the foundation of its Built Ford
Tough capability. For strength and durability, crossmembers are
riveted, welded or both. Another strengthening measure, the
hydroformed front end assembly is entirely spot welded.
High-Strength front end structure
Super Duty® is the only pickup to use all high-strength
steel (approximately two times stronger than regular steel) in
its rugged hydroformed front end structure. Lighter weight and
greater strength mean greater vehicle integrity.
Capability
Innovative TowCommand with Integrated Trailer Brake
Control
Standard on F-450 pickup, Super Duty® has the first
available factory-installed, fully integrated Trailer Brake
Controller (TBC) in a full-size pickup. No installation hassles
or aftermarket worries. TBC is integrated with the ABS and
synchronizes vehicle and trailer brakes for seamless braking even
with the heaviest loads. Also included with the optional
TowCommand are telescoping trailer tow mirrors.
Class-leading payload capacity
Every trucker knows the value of a big payload. Properly
equipped, Super Duty's massive maximum payload of 6,120 lbs.
is a solid benefit.. More payload can mean fewer trips. And fewer

for you. No truck in Super Duty's class can tow more when
properly equipped. And for demanding fifth wheel applications,

can pull an astounding 24,500 lbs!
Innovation
Stowable Bed Extender
Super Duty innovation is evident in its optional Stowable Bed
Extender, a cargo support for corralling more of what you carry.
It splits in the middle, folds, and stows into the sides of the
bed. There's no wasted space nor any need to remove the
extender when carrying large, flat loads. Made of
fiberglass-filled polypropylene, the Stowable Bed Extender
won't dent. It's strong, durable and corrosion
resistant.
Handy Integrated Tailgate Step
The 2008 Super Duty® offers an available integrated step
hidden in the tailgate for easier access to the bed and its
contents, including a unique flip-up grab bar that can handle the
beefiest of grabbers. A tailgate liner and a pin-lock for added
stiffness are included. It's unprecedented convenience,
especially when combined with the torsion bar in the standard
Tailgate Assist™ that makes closing the stamped-steel gate
easy.
Rapid-Heat Supplemental Cab Heater
RapidHeat is an available supplemental heating element on
diesel trucks that helps bring the interior temperature up to a
comfortable level more quickly. The new F-Series Super Duty marks
the first time it's been offered in North America. The
self-regulating heater integrates into the HVAC case, improving
the temperature of the heater up to 18 degrees F at
discharge.
PowerScope side mirrors
At the touch of a switch, Super Duty's unique available
PowerScopeTM side mirrors adjust, telescope or fold. Designed
specifically for Super Duty®, these large mirrors extend up
to 70 mm and include heated glass, an integrated turn signal and
clearance lamp. The manually adjustable spotter mirror is more
than twice the size of its predecessor, providing expanded
visibility. No other mirror in Super Duty's class offers this
much functionality and convenience.
