Performance
263-hp 3.5L Duratec V6
The 3.5L Duratec V6 generates 263 horsepower, a dramatic boost
from the 153 horses that powered the previous Taurus. This potent
powerplant is engineered with dual overhead cams activating four
valves per cylinder with advanced variable cam timing
technology.
6-Speed Transmission
Taurus' advanced 3.5L Duratec V6 is mated to an equally
advanced 6-speed automatic transmission. It features a wide span
of gear ratios across the six speeds, providing responsive
acceleration at the low end and enhanced fuel economy at the
overdrive 6th gear.
4-Wheel Independent Suspension
Taurus' four-wheel independent suspension with MacPherson
strut front system and multi-link rear design delivers
outstanding ride comfort as well as directional control. Hydrogen
gas-pressurized "monotube" shocks dissipate heat more
quickly than twin-tube shocks, reducing the effects of possible
overheating on rough roads. Taurus is also equipped with a
4-wheel disc anti-lock brake system for smooth, straight stops.
